Adult Fitness Class Descriptions

Each class is 45 minutes

Ai Chi                                     Wednesday 11:00am Small Pool

This small pool class focuses on Ai Chi which is a form of aquatic exercise and relaxation that involves slow, broad movements of the arms, legs, and torso, coordinated with deep breathing. It combines elements of  and  and is performed while standing in shoulder-deep water, making it beneficial for a wide range of abilities and ages. The practice helps improve flexibility, strength, balance, and reduce stress and quieting the mind.

Aquaticise                              Monday 6:15pm Small Pool, Friday 11am Small Pool

This class has modifications available for every level. Aquaticise is offered to beginners all the way up to advanced. This well-balanced total body workout includes a warm-up, cardiovascular workout, strength, flexibility, and abdominal work. It promotes joint flexibility, a range of motion and agility while building cardiovascular endurance and strength. Multiple types of equipment may be used. Aquatic shoes strongly recommended. 

Aqua Fit                                 Wednesday 5:15pm Large Pool

Aqua Fit is our new take on fast-paced fitness with a refreshing twist! Taking place in the

shallow end of the big pool where you will be able to touch the floor and maintain full control of

your body, Aqua Fit will focus on strength training and cardio while keeping you cool. Offered to beginners all the way up to advanced, expect this class to be one with a higher intensity to burn calories and build muscle. Like Aquaticise, you will experience a balanced full body workout with the added bonus of a cooler pool temperature. Exercising in this temperature works to prevent overheating and aids in post-workout muscle recovery while reducing inflammation and soreness. Multiple types of equipment will be used and aquatic shoes are strongly

recommended.

Aqua Yoga                             Mon 11:15am, Wed 6:15pm, Thu 12:00pm Small Pool

Soak up and enjoy the healing power of warm water combined with the science of yoga practice.  Explore your range of motions that are not available on land by using yoga poses and stretches modified by water.  This class will increase your muscle tone and body awareness as well as decrease inflammation and negative tension in your body.  Other benefits include restoring your balance, easing stress and anxiety, and increasing an overall feeling of well-being. No swimming ability or previous yoga experience required. 

Arthritis plus                         Mon/Wed 10am Small Pool, Tue/Thu 11am Small Pool

Arthritis + is a class with light cardio aquatic movements and arthritis plus programming. This class has moderate intensity and longer endurance periods. This class is set at a slightly faster pace. As you are moving and feeling great, improve balance and core stability, and increase your range of motion and flexibility. No swimming ability necessary. Aquatic shoes strongly recommended.

B3 (Bikes-Body-Balance)     Monday 3:00pm        

This small pool class is a blend of the best! Geared to people who may be curious about hydrobike and other fitness classes while at the same time needing the warm water for its therapeutic nature. This low impact class focuses on developing stamina, strength, and stability through use of bikes, body work, and balance exercises.  Self-provided aqua shoes are required for the bike portion of the class.

Deep Water Workout           Monday 5:15pm, Tue/Thu 9:15am Large Pool                   

This is a non-impact and high intensity program which emphasizes cardiovascular strength and endurance as well as flexibility, range of motion and core strength. Classes are held in the deeper water of the pool and participants will use flotation belts. This program will be of particular benefit to runners and other active exercisers who are looking for a challenging workout as a no impact alternative to conditioning on land. Training while increasing strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance.

Hydro Bike                            Fri 10:10am Large Pool

Boost cardio and strength with invigorating interval training on aquatic stationary bikes, all while being fueled by the rhythm of the music. Water resistance provides a total body workout and hydrostatic pressure provides less pressure on the joints & lower back. The workout includes off-bike warm-up for 5 minutes, hydro bike intervals for 25 minutes, core and arm water work for 10 minutes, and a 5-minute cool down. Aquatic shoes required.  Please arrive 10 minutes early to set up/adjust your bike.  Let’s pedal to the beat for strength and happiness. 

Multiple Sclerosis                 Tue/Thu 10am Large Pool

This is a shallow water, easy-paced class incorporating cardiovascular aquatic movement, walking, and strength training. This class will work on improving balance, core stability and flexibility while using a variety of water equipment. No swimming ability is necessary, but you should feel comfortable in the water. The class is designed for those with MS who are independently mobile but may be taken with the assistance of an aide. Aquatic shoes are strongly recommended for the class.
